Education Quality Accreditation
Education Quality Accreditation is a type of Education Quality assurance process under which services and operations of an educational institution or program are evaluated by an external body to determine if applicable standards are met. If standards are met, Education Quality Accreditation status is granted by the agency. In most countries in the world, the function of Education Quality Accreditation is conducted by a government organization, such as a ministry of education. In the United States, however, the Education quality assurance process is independent of government and performed by private membership associations of Education Quality Accreditation. It is important to understand, however, that Education Quality Accreditation is not a ranking system. It is simply assurance that a program or institution meets established education quality standards. There are two types of Education Quality Accreditation: institutional and specialized. Institutional accreditation evaluates overall institutional quality. Specialized accreditation examines specific programs of study, rather than an institution as a whole. This type of accreditation is granted to specific programs at specific levels. Architecture, nursing, law, medicine, and engineering programs are often evaluated through specialized Education Quality Accreditation.
